Gold Coast Half Ironman

NEWS RELEASE USM WEBSITE~ Despite the best efforts of our team we have been unable to secure a venue for the 2011 Gold Coast Half, forcing the cancellation of the event. Our current agreement with Calypso Bay expired in 2010 and unfortunately they decided not to renew the option to stage the event going forward for a number of reasons. We understand there will be many disappointed competitors, as we at USM Events are, after 13 years of building this event into the success it became. We would like to thank all our loyal customers that have supported the event over the years. Make sure you still keep the Gold Coast Half event weekend free in 2012 (NSW Labour Day Long Weekend) as we will soon be announcing another long course event onto our calendar. In other breaking news, we are pleased to announce the inclusion of a long course event onto the Geelong Multi Sport Festival on Sunday, 12 February 2012 program. The long course will form part of the multitude of triathlon options available to cater for all competitors. Online entries for this event will be opening on 28 JUNE 2011 with limited places available. More information will be posted on our website very soon about both these new events. Please check back in soon.

Noosa Multi Sport Festival

Eyeline 1000 Ocean Swim

The 23rd Eyeline 1000 Noosa Ocean Swim is one of Australia's most famous 1000 metre ocean swims and plays host to some of Australia's top swimmers. The Eyeline 1000 Ocean Swim is the perfect opportunity for swimmers of all ages 7-70+years to get in and be a part of the Noosa Multi Sport Festival. Splash & Dash Festival 2011

It will be a ‘festival of fitness’ for all ages and standards, as the inaugural Illawarra Credit Union 2011 Ocean Splash n Dash festival launches summer fitness and fun in the ‘gong’.  Featuring five events over two fun days, hundreds of participants are expected to ‘Ocean Splash – swim, ‘Ocean Dash’ fun run/walk, and ‘Splash & Dash’ – Aquathon offering an event for all ages & standards.  A fun filled active weekend is on offer for the recreational beginner fitness type to those keen to make it a active weekend- participants will be treated to a professionally run events, safe and value packed, over magestic coastal courses in Wollongong's premier blue mile precinct.

ASICS Victor Harbor Triathlons

The ASICS 2012 Victor Harbor Triathlons and Fun Run-Walk is held every March long weekend catering for every member of the family. There is a calm inland seawater lake for swimming, roads fully closed to motorist for safe cycling and quiet streets lined with spectators cheering all participants. There are four events starting with a fun short triathlon for beginners, Olympic triathlon for the super fit and others looking for a challenge, a five kilometres fun walk just to be in the event finishing with the mini triathlon for children. With ample accommodation, plenty of post race refreshments and over AUD6000.00 in prizes to give away, making this event a must thing to do

Sparke Helmore Triathlon

The 2012 Sparke Helmore / NBN Television Triathlon Festival will be held Sunday 18 March 2012. In the past the event has attracted a field of approximately 1400 participants each year. The Festival will continue to include the traditional short course triathlon and also a relay teams format. For 2011 the festival will include an additional distance option of 1.5km swim, 40km cycle, 10km run. This event will also be the State Olympic Distance Triathlon Championships and is sponsored by Newcastle City Council. All events are open to anyone who is sufficiently able to compete, including the Olympic Distance Event. There will be strict race limits on all events, so enter the event as soon as possible to secure a start position.

Location: The course is designed to showcase the best aspects of the Newcastle Foreshore. The race compound is located opposite Nobby's Beach in Camp Shortland off Wharf Rd. First race starts at 6.30am. If arriving after the first event has started we suggest approaching the site via the western end of Wharf Rd, where you will be able to access the harbour side of Wharf Rd without crossing the cycle leg. There will be barriers and marshals located to allow access to the event compound.

Swim - 1500m 1 lap in the waters off Mooloolaba Beach Cycle - 40km 1 lap undulating out and back course Run - 10km undulating 2 lap course along The Esplanade Minimum Age: Individual Competitors must be a minimum of 15 years old as at the 31/12/2011. Shark Island Swim

1km Swim-Start 9:30am, 2.3km Swim-Start 10.30am The first Cronulla Shark Island Swim was held in October 1987 on a drizzly overcast day. There was a medium swell running and the water surface was choppy. Sixty-four competitors swam from Cronulla Beach out to sea and around Shark Island and back to the beach; approximately 2.4 kilometres. There were no buoys and the competitors swam their own course causing many to have concern for their safety. There were no prizes but the race had already attracted some attention with long distance swimmer and Australian Belt Champion, David O'Brien winning the race. The most recent events have seen some of the best swimmers in Australia compete with over 1,000 entries. Notable past competitors include David O'Brien, the leading marathon swimmer in the world, and Susie Maroney. However, the majority of swimmers are recreational. The reason for the race's popularity is that it can be observed from vantage points along The Esplanade. This is the only ocean race where this is possible. Prizes have increased to $1,000 for the first male and $1,000 for the first female while the second and third prizes are $400 and $200 respectively. There are also 26 age category prizes for male and female winners.

The Dextro Energy Triathlon - ITU World Championship-Sydney

Not just for the elite competitor, athletes of all ages and abilities have the chance to race past the same iconic landmarks as those featured in the Olympic Course at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. This is your chance to ‘tri the bridge’ with the age group course travelling over the Sydney Harbour Bridge during the cycle leg. If you’d like to be a part of this major event, but don’t feel you can take on the 1.5km swim, 40km cycle and 10km run by yourself, why not get together with some friends and join as a team! Teams allow 2 to 3 members, with each member doing a different section.
